Illustration, book design, and creative direction for Owlet: Lullabies of the World, a children’s book by Early Childhood Ireland in partnership with Mother Tongues. The book was created to introduce babies and young children to language and culture through lullabies, while fostering comfort, connection, and a sense of belonging.

The visual approach was carefully developed with early years and bedtime reading in mind. A custom handwritten typeface was created to add softness and warmth, supported by gentle shapes and a calm, considered colour palettes designed to engage young children without feeling overstimulating. Extensive research into the cultural origins of each lullaby informed the illustrations and characters, ensuring the visuals felt respectful, thoughtful, and rooted in the stories being shared. In addition to the book, a suite of digital assets was created for use across web and social media, extending the visual world beyond print.
